Pakistan on Sunday successfully conducted test fire of a nuclear surface-to-surface ballistic missile, an army statement said.
The Haft-II Abdali missile can hit target at the range of 200 kilometers, it said.
Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test.
"The missile was the Pakistan-developed short-range Haft-II Abdali," a military statement said.
"The Abdali SSM, which can reach targets up to 200 kilometers, can carry nuclear and other types of warheads," the statement said.
"All planned technical parameters were validated," it said
The missile is the latest in Pakistan's arsenal of nuclear- capable weapons.
